DC Vision Provides AI- and AR-powered Field Service Empowerment for the Data Center

Manual processes and outdated data create potential sources of error in data centers and increase the risk of inefficiencies and outages. FNT Software addresses these challenges with a closed-loop approach that connects planning and execution in data center management. To achieve this, FNT is extending its Command Platform with DC Vision. The integration of the partner technology from DC Smarter marks a strategic step toward a fully digitized data center operation.
While FNT Command provides the authoritative data foundation as a single source of truth for all physical and logical infrastructures, DC Vision acts as a “bridge” to the reality of the server room. With the support of AR and AI, on-site technicians can work more precisely and validate their documentation in real time. This integrated approach enables proactive workflow management in the data center and improves four key aspects of operations.
- Inventory in record time
Accurate documentation is the foundation for reliable operations, yet in practice it often fails due to manual maintenance processes. DC Vision addresses this challenge with AI-based object recognition. Technicians simply scan racks using a mobile device. The software automatically identifies hardware models and compares them live with the target data stored in FNT Command. This dramatically accelerates inventory processes and ensures permanently audit-ready data quality without time-consuming manual inventory lists.
- Expert knowledge accessible from anywhere
Given the ongoing shortage of skilled professionals, having specialized expertise available at all times is not guaranteed. With the “Remote Assist” feature, experts at headquarters can connect to the technician’s device on-site via live video. Using AR, the expert sees exactly the same view and can place visual markers directly in the technician’s field of vision. This significantly reduces travel costs and simplifies onboarding, enabling even less experienced staff to complete complex tasks reliably.
- Greater efficiency with reduced risk of errors
Maintenance, patching, or infrastructure changes always carry the risk of human error, which can result in costly outages. Work orders from FNT Command are therefore displayed visually to the technician within DC Vision. AR overlays highlight exactly which device needs to be replaced or which port must be patched on the physical rack. This visual guidance significantly reduces the risk of human error and minimizes rework.
- Audit-proof through real-time documentation
Regulatory frameworks and security standards such as NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001, or NIST require comprehensive and traceable documentation. Because every physical change made via DC Vision immediately flows back into the digital twin, the documentation in FNT Command always reflects the current state. Operators are therefore well prepared for audits without requiring complex special inventories and can significantly reduce compliance risks.
Operational costs for field services can be reduced by up to 54 percent, while total cost of ownership (TCO) can even be cut in half. In addition, avoiding hotspots and unused devices contributes to improved energy efficiency and a better climate footprint.
DC Vision has already successfully demonstrated its potential, for example at the GSI Helmholtz Centre. There, the solution is used in the “Green IT Cube” data center to inspect highly complex infrastructure more efficiently and proactively address potential faults.
