Gartner Recognizes FNT Software as a Visionary for Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)
FNT, a leading provider of integrated software solutions for IT management, data center infrastructure management and telecommunication infrastructure management worldwide, today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the “Visionaries” quadrant of Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Data Center Infrastructure Management Tools.
- 17 DCIM vendors evaluated
- Gartner forecasts ”growth for implementation of DCIM tools”
With the release of this first ever Gartner Magic Quadrant for DCIM Tools, Gartner reflects the increasing maturity of the DCIM market and the rapid growth of the data center market. The Data Center market is one of the fastest growing sectors in IT. Driven by technological advances, changes in usage and an ever growing hunger for compute power and storage, all data center operators are under enormous pressure to keep up with the demand.
According to Gartner DCIM-Tools are used to optimize data center power, cooling and physical space. Gartner defines the “DCIM tool market as a space that encompasses tools that monitor, measure, manage and/or control data center resources and energy consumption of IT-related equipment, such as servers, storage and network switches and facilities infrastructure components, such as power distribution units (PDUs) and computer room air conditioning (CRACs) units.”
The report evaluated 17 different DCIM tool vendors on 15 criteria based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute and placed FNT in the Visionaries quadrant.
“Recent Gartner research projects show that, for 2014, DCIM is managing about 425,000 racks worldwide — an impressive number which nevertheless shows that DCIM has only just begun its penetration, as this represents only 7% of the racks in data centers most suitable for DCIM. In North America, the penetration rate for 2014 is approximately 12%. By 2017, Gartner forecasts that DCIM tools will be deployed in more than 60% of the larger data centers in North America."
“During the last 20 years FNT has invested both, on the development side and the market side in building our strong and well-engineered DCIM, IT infrastructure management and cable management solution based on our software FNT Command. We feel Gartner has recognized our commitment and we consider our positioning as a visionary provider in this first ever published DCIM Magic Quadrant as a consequence of FNT’s investments.” said Nikolaus Albrecht, FNT’s chairman, CEO and co-founder. “We believe this underlines in particular FNT’s market understanding, vision and strategy as well as the extensive DCIM software capabilities which are based on FNT’s unique and visionary data repository that links from facilities through to business processes. FNT’s software provides a powerful solution that enable agile and cost effective data centers operations.”
