FNT Command C base details

Real estate

All activities relating to the creation and management of building documentation are handled via the Navigator module, starting with entering the departments by assigning and naming zones. This zonal structure represents the basis of the Command structure file upon which all other project stages build. The inventory is represented by objects (CIs), which are assigned to zones according to their location. Objects include all data technology objects, as well as all types of furnishings.

CI Library

C base contains a standard library comprising around 70,000 components. The configuration items (CI for short) are described using master and configuration data and can be expanded by the user as required. The provided components can be combined in modular fashion; plausibility checks defined by the manufacturer are carried out during this process. These components can be installed in switch cabinets (C line) and zones and allow highly realistic, easy-to-follow depiction of the assignment of the switch cabinets.

Administration

The Administration function is a key part of Command. This is where the Command master data (devices, switch cabinets, cables, etc.), coaxial data, database jobs, data dictionaries, display attributes, sessions, objects from other systems, icons, attachments, and importing of master data and configuration data are managed.

Access Management

The user authorization of each individual user or of a group of users is defined using Access Management. A distinction is made between mandator and role. The mandator describes the ownership of an object in the database, while the role defines the options available to a user or group at the functional level.

Entity Manager

In the Entity Manager program section, Command database identities can be expanded by adding dynamic attributes. In addition to simple attributes for recording text or numeric values, more complex fields, such as checkboxes, e-mail addresses, and IP addresses, can be added and individually configured.

Planning

All elements in the database can be called as an ACTUAL or PLAN instance. In conjunction with a plan number, Command enables targeted management of changes, which is indispensable in a controlled change process. Using the Planning function, it is possible to carry out set-up, modification, and expansion work in relation to devices and net elements, cables, patches (C line), or CIs in general.

Workflow

Using the Workflow function, the Command user can map workflows. These workflows can either be initiated internally or as part of a global external process. With the help of a responsibility matrix and an escalation routine, each process is rigorously monitored. The workflow is defined using a graphical editor.

Import

The Import function provides standardized formats (e.g., xls or csv) for creating objects in the database (importing). In particular, it is possible to transfer documentation produced by companies carrying out building work to Command. This function comes with its own user navigation. Test routines ensure the integrity of the input. Lifecycle Management: All changes in the database (location, attributes, links) are logged via the History function (user and nature of change). In addition, the Logbook function provides the option of storing external events (incidents, changes, system states from network management, etc.) manually or capturing them via interfaces.

Accessory Management

Enables the creation and management of personal data with descriptive attributes. In addition, people can be assigned to organizations. Administration of contract data and the associated master contracts, as well as assembly parts from the assembly parts master file, is possible via Accessory Management.

Object Management

Object Management enables the user to carry out a database search without any programming knowledge. Search conditions can be entered in a window, down to the field level, and linked using operators. It is also possible to run predefined reports (e.g., port utilization of an active component). The search result is displayed in a table. It is possible to edit the data records directly.

CI Management

A CI (configuration item) search can be carried out by selecting corresponding CI classes. Configuration of the search scope and the results table takes place based on all the attributes or shared attributes of the selected classes. Once saved, the configured search is available for use at any time. For each CI (configuration item) in the database, a graphical evaluation of the existing database relations can be listed. All relations to the CI can be viewed at a glance.
